Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Liverpool Muslim Society to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Liverpool Muslim Society we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Liverpool Muslim Society to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Liverpool Muslim Society will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Liverpool Muslim Society receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

NOTE: We monitor all payments online, it might take sometime before your donation gets added to the target above. On your bank statment you will see transaction by “LIVERPOOL MUSLIMS SOCI” (Since 14:30 5/05/202  this has changed to “LMS – Alrahma Mosque“).

The Liverpool Muslim Society (LMS) main source of income is from collections on Friday prayers, properties, and the generous donations received from worshipers during congregations. Our vision for LMS is to always be fully self-sustainable and have its own successful investments.

Alhamedlelah, for every hardship, unfortunately, with this rapid spread of COVID-19, it has forced us to make a difficult decision to close the Mosque to prevent the spread in our community and safe lives.

The mosque closure will severely impact LMS financial commitments, including the support to vulnerable people, current projects to renovate properties, current financial contracts, and utility service providers, as well as keeping the mosque open for essential services; namely Janazah and Nikkah ceremonies. We made this difficult decision to prevent any potential spread in our community that would leave a devastating impact. The lives of our worshippers and the elderly people at our congregations come first.

Please support us to keep LMS running during this difficult time and donate generously.

The Men’s Entrance is situated on Mulgrave Street and the Women’s Entrance on Hatherley Street. The project involves changes to the Hatherley Street Entrance, to improve access for women and in particularly disabled women. It is intended to insert a lift (one option is to locate a lift in an external extension, to the existing building) and widen the existing entrance doors.

The main element of the project would involve the addition of a three-story “box” extension, to house a lift. This extension would be situated to the left of the Women’s Entrance on Hatherley Street and be accessed externally, utilising an existing disabled access ramp, to the front of No.29 Hatherley Street. The lift would, therefore, provide access from street level, to the ground floor and also to the Women’s prayer hall, on the first floor. The prayer hall is currently accessed by a steep staircase which also provides access to a mezzanine level, used by female worshippers.

LMS properties are in urgent need of refurbishment. We have 13 flats that are in an unrentable state and without refurbishing them, they will decay very quickly. This is an investment to secure LMS’s future and reinstate the property’s potential.

This is a great investment opportunity for LMS and for our community. To donate, please use bank details below or go to Al-Rahma Main Office or call 0151-709 2560.
